Gothic Quarter Antiques (Self Guided), Barcelona

Beneath the grand façades of the Gothic Quarter's historic buildings is a clutch of superb antique stores. When you can peel your eyes away from the beauty of the buildings, you will discover an array of equally fascinating sights behind the quarter’s shop doors. Dive into the past with gusto and look for centuries-old items as well as more recent pieces from the 1960s and ‘70s.

The traditional home of Barcelona’s antique shops is Carrer dels Banys Nous, but there are also some trendy clothing stores here for the crowds of hipsters. A good place to kick-start your antiques hunt is Carrer de la Palla near the Cathedral and Museu del Calcat. Among the many small stores and galleries is a specialist shop selling 18th and 19th-century art and objets d’arts.

Another great location is Carrer de la Palla, known for its wonderful mix of old-fashioned stores, antique dealers and small independent boutiques. When you browse the Gothic Quarter's antique shops, you are bound to come across a unique find for your home, no matter your budget. It doesn't matter whether you are buying or browsing, an antique hunting trip to the neighborhood is simply a great day out in an architecturally stunning place.
