Kvadraturen Shopping Walk (Self Guided), Oslo

If you are looking for an exciting shopping experience with lots of variety in a beautiful setting, then make your way to Downtown Oslo. Follow the crowds to Karl Johans gate, known as Oslo’s Champs-Élysées and main street and where the city comes to shop. This part of Oslo encompasses Kvadraturen, the historical center, widely considered to be the best shopping destination in the south of Norway.

Karl Johans gate is a long avenue that leads up to the Royal Palace and is filled with hundreds of shops. During the summer, you will most likely see lots of street artists and performers as you make your way in and out of the stores. Come here to shop for designer labels and souvenirs and browse the department stores and many independent shops.

Stop by the garden and fountain area for a little relaxation and take your pick of the road's delightful restaurants. During the winter, glide across the seasonal ice rink. There is also a mix of cafés and fast food options such as McDonalds. Spend some time in one of Karl Johans gate's principle highlights, Egertorget, a pedestrianized square. The district around this public plaza is packed with a host of the very best Norwegian and international fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands.
