Design District Walk (Self Guided), Miami
Miami is a coastal city bursting with color and vibrancy. It is also a hotbed of creativity with innovative fashions in its stores and imaginative art in its galleries. The Design District as the name suggests is where you will see a lot of that creativity on show, in its art, food and fashions. The area principally consists of lots of old low-rise warehouses which today are occupied by galleries and retail outlets. A lot of the art is produced by locals, among them up-and-coming artists and established figures on the scene. There are paintings, sculptures, mixed-media pieces and much more. The district may be small, but its influence on the art world is huge.
A great way to discover a brilliant piece of local art is to attend one of the community-wide Art and Design Nights. These are held on the second Saturday of every month where galleries and showrooms open their doors to the public for music, refreshments and art exploration.
Shopping in the area is equally delightful and rewarding with numerous fashion outlets and luxury stores. Among the famous names here are Givenchy, Dior, Giorgio Armani, Burberry, Berluti and Louis Vuitton. Your dining needs are catered for in a delightful smattering of trendy cafés and coffee houses, smart lounges and bistros.
