Antiques Hunting (Self Guided), Rome

Whether you just like looking at old collectibles, are a serious buyer or just have a few dollars to spend, an antique hunting trip in the Ponte neighborhood is seriously good fun. Many of the city’s antique dealers can be found on Via dei Coronari, Via Giulia and Via del Pellegrino. Their stores are bursting with an abundance of old treasures and curiosities from times gone by.

If you have an interest in decorative art and 19th-century furniture then Via dei Coronari, one of the city's most prestigious streets is where you need to be. While you are here, marvel at the stunning architecture of some of the old buildings, such as the Lancellotti Palazzo and the church of St. Salvatore in Lauro. This place of worship dates back to the 16th century. On this road, find architecture from the Middle Ages and Renaissance and Baroque periods. This road has a fascinating history. The shops that once occupied the area sold rosaries and other religious items to pilgrims fleeing Rome. It is also said that no.122 Via de Coronari is where the Renaissance painter Raphael lived. For more antique viewing and purchasing, visit the stores on the elite shopping street known as Via Guilia. This artery also attracts visitors for its gorgeous palaces and churches.
