While I’ve been to many Caribbean Islands, either things have changed, or Anguilla is a little different from some of the others I’ve visited. For starters, I don’t ever remember needing so much cash! Below are some tips for traveling to Anguilla.

- Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory and follows the English driving system on the LEFT side of the road

- Anguilla is 16 miles long. Rent a car for exploring the island. Taxis operate by zones and it is $32 to go from one side of the island to the other. Taxis are fine for staying in one zone only.

- According to one taxi drive, there is only “one road in a lollipop shape that covers the whole island with no splits.” From the ferry dock to my hotel I counted three splits. “Those are just turn offs,” he said. I don’t know, see the map below!

- Anguilla uses the Eastern Caribbean Currency or the US Dollar. I had sticker shock when I saw a carton of eggs was priced at $9 until I found out at the register is was in EC. Currently, $1US = 2.70 EC ...... (follow the instructions below for accessing the rest of this article).
