Exploring the Malaysian Island Langkawi by Scooter, Langkawi, Malaysia
Malaysia exists out of multiple islands, from which Langkawi is located at the West side of the country. Comparing to Penang, Langkawi is less touristic and is still very pure. That’s also the reason why Langkawi is perfect to explore by scooter. We stayed a few days at Langkawi during our round trip through Malaysia. In this article I provide an island guide.
There are many ways to get to Langkawi. Most travellers will travel to Langkawi by boat; from the island Penang or from the mainland of Malaysia. I travelled from Penang to Langkawi by the high-speed ferry, which takes you to the island in approximately three hours. Although this is quite efficient, the ferry ride wasn’t very comfortable. This means that the seats were small and there wasn’t much legroom; I was happy when the three hours were over.. Furthermore, if you can get sea sick fast, this might not be the best idea for you as the water can be quite wild sometimes.
An alternative way to get to Langkawi, is by plane. Langkawi has its own airport from where you can take several domestic flights. You can travel from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi by plane, for example.
