Formargruppen, Malmo
Formargruppen is a must-see location for those keen on designer items. This gallery-shop belongs to a cooperative of about 20 professional craftsmen and artists who work in different materials: from clay, fabrics and woodwork to metals and gems.
Founded in 1983, the cooperative showcases locally-produced crafts: exclusive jewellery, handmade pottery and souvenirs, hand-painted textiles and many other interesting things. All of them are made in Sweden, in small quantities or as individual pieces, and are available for sale.
All of the Formargruppen artists are based in the region. Most days, the members take turns running the shop, so when visiting, you can meet one of the artists in person. If you come on a weekday, you will probably meet Tove Sporrong, the store manager. A varying number of guest members also show and sell their products here.
Formargruppen also hosts new exhibitions every month where visitors can meet artists and explore new art media of experimental, questioning and reflective nature. There are several exhibitions during spring and autumn. The exhibits are carefully selected and often represent a complement to what you find in the store.
